Learners Leading the Way: A Manifesto for Adult Education

With May’s national and local elections in mind, ALFiE ran a free seminar on 25th October 2006. Learners from the ALFiE committee presented ALFiE’s Manifesto for Adult Education, which had been drawn up using learners’ views and ideas. Politicians present at the seminar generally welcomed it and offered constructive comments and suggestions. Since then, the ALFiE committee has been working on the Manifesto, taking into account the views of adult learners and others attending the seminar. See the Manifesto as PDF or Word document or as webpage.

ALFiE is a voluntary organisation run by and for adult learners.
More than 25,000 adult learners in Edinburgh take part in community based groups, courses and attend evening classes. ALFiE is their only means of meeting, sharing ideas and experiences and expressing their collective views to decision makers.

If you are concerned about adult education or if you are an adult learner studying full time, part-time or just a couple of hours a week, you may be interested in joining us.
